The Cottage provides adult support services
for victims impacted by sexual violence: 24-hour crisis hotline,
medical advocacy/emotional support for survivors during medical
exams and follow-up treatment, legal advocacy, emergency financial
assistance for basic needs, individual and family counseling
referrals, and groups for adult survivors of incest, date,
and acquaintance rape. The Cottage served 95 adults in 2008.
Support services for children between
the ages 3-17 include 24-hour crisis hotline, forensic interviews,
multidisciplinary team reviews to enhance the response to
suspected abuse cases, individual and family counseling referrals,
and a free support and activity group for children who are
healing from sexual abuse called Heroes Great & Small.
The Cottage served 177 children in 2008 which involved 1,845
different services.
The Cottage also provides a 24 hour,
7 day a week hotline. Many services are provided to survivors
through the contact made when they use the hotline. Services
may include crisis counseling, victim information/referral,
and nonvictim information. In 2008, there were 483 hotline
calls.
